What We Do
What do we offer?
Optimal Learning provides academic strategy support to high school and post-secondary students who have challenges with executive functioning skills—these are the skills that help you get things done.
The student and Strategist work together to create and implement academic strategies in areas such as:
- organizational and planning techniques
- task initiation strategies (stop procrastinating)
- time management
- study strategies
- memory improvement strategies
- note-taking skills
- reading comprehension strategies
- test-taking strategies
- academic motivation
- concentration and focus
- how to get “unstuck” from a problem
- tools and technology to stay organized (apps, calendars, white boards, etc.)
In partnership with the student, our strategist will:
- work with students to develop a positive mindset around studying and learning.
- work together to take a proactive, rather than reactive approach to learning
- help students understand that they are responsible for their own learning.
- assist students with identifying their strengths related to learning.
- identify specific barriers to student success related to executive functioning challenges.
- work with students to enhance their self-advocacy skills in an academic environment.
- work with students to build tools and strategies to overcome identified barriers to learning.
- help students apply their successful tools and learning strategies to other learning opportunities.
Please note that Optimal Learning does not offer academic tutoring or counselling services.
